APTransco speeds up Rs 5,000 cr power projects across state

Vijayawada: Special chief secretary to the Chief Minister K Vijayanand said that power transmission projects worth around Rs 5,000 crore are being implemented at a fast pace across the State under APTransco to strengthen the transmission network.

He was reviewing the progress of works during a high-level meeting held at the State Secretariat on Wednesday. APTransco joint managing director Surya Sai Praveen Chand, directors A K V Bhaskar and N Venkataramana Murthy, along with chief engineers and superintending engineers, participated in the meeting.

Vijayanand said that apart from the ongoing projects, proposals are being prepared to take up additional works worth about Rs 3,000 crore to further augment the power system. He directed officials to prepare a detailed implementation calendar for the construction of 400 KV, 220 kV and 132 KV substations and ensure completion of all projects within stipulated timelines.

He also instructed officials to draw up a procurement calendar for 2026–27 to meet the requirements of RMI (Repairs and Maintenance Infrastructure), O&M (operations and maintenance) and construction activities, and to streamline procurement accordingly.

The special chief secretary said that the State government, under the leadership of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and with the support of energy minister Gottipati Ravi Kumar, is committed to strengthening the power sector and ensuring uninterrupted 24x7 quality power supply to all categories of consumers. He emphasised that robust transmission infrastructure is crucial to achieving this goal.

Vijayanand further directed officials to closely monitor system performance, minimise outages and expedite ongoing works to effectively meet the growing power demand in the state.
