Vijayawada: Minister for Roads and Buildings Dharmana Krishna Das on Sunday said the Durga temple flyover works would be completed by December 2019.
The Minister along with Endowments Minister Velampalli Srinivas and Central MLA Malladi Vishnu and other engineering officials inspected the works of the flyover, which is being constructed at a cost of Rs 400 crore from Kummaripalem to Krishna Lanka.
Later, briefing the media, Krishna Das said that he conducted a review meeting with the officials and the contractor and hoped that the works would be completed by the end of December 2019.
Endowments Minister Velampalli Srinivas said the previous TDP government had failed to complete the works in four years. He said Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy is determined to complete the flyover works as early as possible.
He said the YSRCP government would give the flyover as a New Year gift to the people in January 2020.
Principal Secretary M Krishna Babu said the Central government had released Rs 223 crore for the construction works and another Rs 100 crore needs to be released.
He said Rs 114 crore was spent for land acquisition and added that there is no scarcity of funds and the flyover works would be completed by the end of December 2019.
