The CBI Court in Hyderabad is set to resume regular hearings in the alleged quid pro quo and disproportionate assets cases linked to YSRCP chief Jagan after long-pending discharge petitions were cleared

Kadapa MP Y S Avinash Reddy
Days after the Enforcement Directorate (ED) moved the Telangana High Court seeking directions for former Andhra Pradesh chief minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy and other accused to attend day-to-day proceedings in the alleged quid pro quo cases, the CBI Court in Hyderabad is set to resume hearings in the disproportionate assets cases linked to Jagan.
The legal proceedings had remained stalled for nearly a decade due to pending discharge petitions before the CBI Court. Following the clearance of these petitions, the court has initiated steps to commence regular trials in the quid pro quo cases and directed the accused, including Jagan Mohan Reddy, to appear before the court.
Meanwhile, Kadapa MP Y S Avinash Reddy appeared before ED officials in Hyderabad on Wednesday for questioning in connection with alleged hawala money transactions linked to the murder case of former minister Y S Vivekananda Reddy.
Avinash Reddy, accompanied by his advocate, appeared before the agency around 10.30 am and reportedly submitted bank statements covering the last three years. Sources said ED officials questioned him regarding the alleged RS 40 crore hawala transactions that reportedly took place days before Vivekananda Reddy’s murder.
Based on statements made by approver Sheikh Dastagiri, ED officials are understood to have raised several questions, including those related to Rs 20 lakh in cash allegedly seized during searches at Avinash Reddy’s residence in Kadapa.
In a related development, the ED has issued notices to retired IAS officer Rajat Bhargava, directing him to appear for questioning in connection with the Andhra Pradesh liquor policy case.
Officials are examining alleged irregularities in the Excise Department during Bhargava’s tenure as Special Secretary, including matters related to the introduction of new liquor brands, transportation and logistics. Following investigations by the Special Investigation Team (SIT), the ED registered a case under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) and has been questioning several individuals linked to the case.
