Education department gears up for textbooks distribution in East Godavari
The education department has geared up to distribute textbooks to 4,124 schools in the district.
Kakinada: The education department has geared up to distribute textbooks to 4,124 schools in the district. In total, 24 lakh books are required for schoolchildren right from Class I to X in the government, municipal, social welfare, ZP, mandal parishad and aided schools in the district. With the schools scheduled to reopen on June 12, the authorities are planning to distribute books well in advance.
Out of the total 24 lakh textbooks, the district had received 20 lakh books and sent them to schools in 64 mandals. The distribution of books will start from the very first day of opening of schools. Unlike the earlier process of either arranging transport to various destinations or the concerned school staff collecting from the district stock points, the authorities engaged the APSRTC cargo and courier service for this purpose.
DEO S Abraham said that as per the students' strength in schools we placed the 24 lakh indent and received 20 lakh books. In case of need for additional requirement after opening of schools, we will place fresh indents, the DEO clarified.
