Kakinada: Agriculture Minister Kurasala Kannababu said healthy diet and regular exercises will help in protection of kidneys from failure. Trust Hospital and Rangaraya Medical College (RMC) conducted an awareness rally on the occasion of World Kidney Day here on Thursday. The minister participated as a chief guest in the programme.

He said that the State government has taken steps to protect the health of the people and distributing pensions to kidney patients in the state. Government Hospital Superintendent Dr M Raghavendra Rao and Trust Hospital Director Ramakrishna explained how the people were suffering from renal failure and undergoing dialysis waiting for kidney donation.

Diabetes, blood pressure, drug abuse and obesity were the main reasons for the kidney failure, which is preventable if people adopt a disciplined lifestyle, they said. Dr DVS Somayajulu, Dr S Praveen, Dr Ganesh and others were present.
