Dr Mangalampalli Balamurali Krishna birthday celebrations were celebrated by the Department of Language and Culture, Government of Andhra Pradesh on Saturday evening at Tummalapallivari Kshetrayya Kala Kshetram.

Vijayawada: Dr Mangalampalli Balamurali Krishna birthday celebrations were celebrated by the Department of Language and Culture, Government of Andhra Pradesh on Saturday evening at Tummalapallivari Kshetrayya Kala Kshetram.

Chief Secretary LV Subrahmanyam attended as the chief guest. He said that Dr Balamurali was a legendary exponent in Carnatic music world. He also said that Balamurali and his music was a guide to the present generation and also for future.

Malladi Vishnu, MLA, Vijayawada Central praised the celebrity musician Dr Balamuralikrishna, who performed not only vocal but also many instruments. Annavarapu Ramaswamy, the contemporary violinist for Balamurali, requested the government to introduce music as one of the subject in elementary education.

Praveen Kumar, Commissioner, Department of Tourism and Culture explained the various programmes that are being conducted by the government. Suneetha, IAS, Dr D Vizia Bhaskar, CEO, Department of Culture, Mallikharjuna Rao, Zonal Officer, Tourism, Abhiram, son of Balamurali were present on the dais.

The impressive Kuchipudi dance items like "Vinayaka kouthan", "Guru Brahma", "Brindavana sarang", "Dasavatara sabdam", "Astapadi" were performed by the disciples of Dr Chinta Ravi Balakrishna and Ghantasala Pavan Kumar.

An excellent violin concert was presented by Annavarapu Ramaswamy on this occasion and touched the soul of the audience. The Carnatic keerthanas like 'Vatapi Ganapatim Bhaje', 'Endaro Mahanubhavulu', 'Ramabhakthi samrajyam', 'Raghuvamsa sudhambudhi' were presented by the eminent violin maestro Annavarapu Ramaswamy and he was supported by Durga Bhavani and Nandakumar on Violin. Able instrumental support was rendered by Parupalli Subbaraya Phalgun on mrudangam, Hari Babu on Ghatam.
