Nellore MLA conducts ground survey of ticket aspirants

Nellore: parties routinely conduct surveys before finalising candidates for elections. With the forthcoming Nellore Municipal Corporation polls emerging as a crucial ‘litmus test’, Nellore Rural MLA Kotamreddy Sridhar Reddy has introduced an innovative approach.

The MLA, who secured a rare hat-trick of victories from the constituency in 2014, 2019 (on YSRCP ticket) and 2024 (on TDP ticket), is overseeing a large-scale political survey across all 36 divisions of Nellore Rural that fall under the Municipal Corporation. A reputed agency has been conducting the exercise for the past week. Sridhar Reddy is understood to have supplied the agency with a list of aspirants seeking party tickets from these divisions.

Survey teams, comprising around 40 members, are collecting detailed feedback from voters on the prospective candidates’ local popularity, strengths and weaknesses, as well as the standing of rival parties and other political factors.

The survey aims to gauge ground-level support for each aspirant and identify those with broader acceptance among different sections of voters. A large number of TDP hopefuls are competing for the tickets. The agency is also examining the relative strength of each contender, their chances of securing voter support, and the possibility of alternative candidates who may command stronger local backing.

The comprehensive report covering all 36 divisions is expected to be submitted to the MLA before the election notification is issued. These findings will play a key role in the final selection of candidates, generating keen interest among ticket aspirants who are closely monitoring the process.
