Vizianagaram: J Seetha Ramarao, Joint Collector-2 has instructed the authorities concerned to take strict precautionary measures to control malaria and other seasonal diseases.

He asked them to prepare a plan of action to control epidemic diseases while laying special focus on malaria. On Wednesday he held a meeting with rural water supply department including the medical and health staff.

He instructed the staff to create awareness among people through pamphlets, hoardings and with advertisements.

"We should undertake anti-larva operations by spraying insecticides and fogging. Reviews should be conducted at mandal level and special sanitation drive should be taken up. All mandals, panchayats should acquire fogging machines, and other sanitary equipment. So far eight malaria cases are registered in Salur and some swine flu cases also were registered. Every department should join hands in this programme and work with commitment for achieving good results," he said.
