Rajamahendravaram: The police foiled the CPI's TIDCO Gruhapravesam programme here on Monday and arrested eight CPI leaders and imposed Section 144 at TIDCO houses.

The police arrested CPI leaders Ravula Venkaiah, T Madhu, Nagamani, B Ravi Chandra, G Ramanamma, Begam, Uma Maheswari and Amit and shifted them to Korukonda police station.

Speaking in this connection, CPI leader Ravula Venkaiah said the government arrested them for asking to allot TIDCO houses to the beneficiaries. The government is intentionally not allotting the houses completed one year ago, he alleged and added that many of the houses are damaged. He demanded the government to provide basic facilities in the houses.

Many beneficiaries paid thousands of rupees for the houses, but in vain. Why the government is not distributing houses is a million dollar question, he added.

The people are watching the functioning of the government and they will teach it a lesson soon, he said and added that the CPI will fight against the government until it allots houses to the beneficiaries.
