Guntur: Following release of floodwaters from the Pulichintala Project on Thursday, Taduvai, Achempet, Madipadu, Bangarutanda, Challagariga, Ginjupalli and Jadapallimodutanda were submerged in the waters. The road connectivity between Taduvai and Achempet at Madipadu was cut off due to overflow of floodwaters on the road.

There was no transport facility between Taduvai and Achempet since Thursday evening. Over 60 students studying in Veedapathala were taking shelter in Goddess Sri Saraswati temple as a precautionary measure. Heavy water discharge from the Pulichintala Project is expected to continue Friday also.

Meanwhile, floodwaters inundated cotton, chilli gardens in over 20,000 acres in Achempet and Amaravati mandals of Guntrur district. Similarly, in Bellamkonda mandal, residents shifted to safer places as a precautionary measure following alert given by the district administration. Cotton gardens were under the sheet of two feet of water in Machavaram, Amaravati, Achempet mandals for the last 24-hours.
