Training programme on natural farming concludes

Rajamahendravaram: A three-day training programme on natural farming was concluded at the Collectorate here on Thursday under the joint aegis of Rythu Sadhikara Samstha, Andhra Pradesh Community-managed Natural Farming, the Agriculture and Horticulture departments, and Society for Elimination of Rural Poverty. Officials created awareness among farmers on various aspects of natural farming, with a focus on the Pre-Monsoon Dry Sowing method. The implementation process, benefits and field-level practices were explained in detail. Practical guidance was also provided on the preparation of PMDS kits, materials required and their distribution at the village level.
Farmers were sensitised on the importance of preserving indigenous seeds and methods of seed collection. Officials advised that PMDS kits be prepared at Rythu Seva Kendras and supplied to farmers in a timely manner through VAA and VHA staff. Special awareness sessions on natural farming were held during the programme. Demonstrations were conducted on the use of Jeevamrutham and Ghana Jeevamrutham. Participants were briefed on practices that help maintain soil health and improve crop resistance to pests and diseases. Speakers highlighted that natural farming helps reduce input costs while improving returns.
Agriculture officers at the division level, horticulture officials, APCNF staff, and progressive farmers participated in the training. District Agriculture Officer Robert Paul, AP MIP Project Director A. Durgesh, District Horticulture Officer N. Mallikarjuna Rao, Natural Farming District Project Manager Tata Rao and Agricultural University professor Neethu Grace addressed the participants.
