Vijayawada: NGOs felicitate blood donors
To mark the World Blood Donors Day, the State government in association with Vijayawada Government Hospital Blood Bank felicitated donors who frequently donate blood and supporters of NGOs in the city on Saturday.

The Krishna District Medical Health Officer, Dr Ramesh, felicitated the donors on the occasion. Nagaraju, an active volunteer of Vivekananda Youth Trust, Vijayawada donated O- negative blood 38 times to patients in emergency.
Likewise, Vaitla Krishna Prasanna, president of Vivekananda Youth Trust, donated his blood 24 times. Dr Ramesh felicitated both of them on the occasion. The Vivekananda Youth Trust president V Krishna Prasanna urged the youth who are above 18 years to voluntarily donate blood at Vijayawada Government Hospital blood bank two times in a year and it would be very useful to the needy. He said mostly the poor and uneducated people come to the government for the treatment and they need the help of donors.
Krishna Prasanna said through the Trust they have arranged around 4,000 units of blood in the last 11 years for heart surgery, pregnancy cases, accidents and other surgeries where blood is required at various hospitals across the city, he added. Dr Ramesh, Vijayawada Government Hospital Blood Bank Coordinator Divya, Blood bank organiser Jospin took part in this programme.
