Ongole: The third gender community members in Ongole held a voter awareness programme and motivated the public to exercise their right to vote in the elections. The hijras held banners at the RTC bus stand and other areas of the town and explained the usage of EVMs and VVPATs along with the importance of the vote.

They said the public that they are also ready to vote in the elections and questioned why the other people are neglecting the important social responsibility. They encouraged the public to cast their vote in favour of the person who could give priority to the public welfare but not to his personal prosperity.

The SVEEP Prakasam unit coordinated the event as part of their awareness programmes and its nodal officer Dr B Ravi and other staff also participated in the programme.
