As a result of this, thunderstorms and lightning showers are expected in Yanam, Puducherry and Karaikal, Tamil Nadu, along with the south coast of Andhra Pradesh today (Wednesday). There will be dry weather on Thursday. Central weather department officials have warned people in the low lying areas to be alert.
Rainfall is expected in some parts of Tamil Nadu, particularly in Cuddalore, Nagapatnam, Thanjavur, Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, Kanyakumari, Nilgiri, Coimbatore, Tiruvallu, Vellu and Kanchipuram districts. Heavy rains are experienced in Theni, Thoothukudi, Tirunelveli and Ramanathapuram districts. Light showers are expected in some parts of Chennai.
Heavy rains were reported in Chennai and the suburbs since midnight on Tuesday. Moreover, Kanchipuram, Thiruvanamalai and Mamallapuram experienced light rainfall on Wednesday morning.
