Even if the storm does not hit the AP directly, its impact will be felt in the vicinity, officials said. Authorities have been instructed to be prepared in all possible ways to deal effectively with the impact of the cyclone which will last from Wednesday to Thursday.

Nellore, Chittoor, some parts of Kadapa, coastal areas of Prakasam district, Kurnool and Anantapur districts are likely to receive 11-20 cm of rain along with winds at a speed of 65 to 75 kmph. Jagan directed that measures should be taken to protect the crops from damage and instructions be sent to farmers through RBKs. They need to be educated on how to protect the harvested crops.

He said that ponds and reservoirs are all overflowing with rains till October which should be constantly monitored and precautionary measures be taken. The chief minister advised officials to make sure that fishermen do not go into the sea and emphasised on setting up of NDRF and SDRF teams and power poles for immediate restoration in case of power supply problems. CM Jagan directed the officers to set up a control room in each district collectorate at all mandals as well.
