US green card suspension won't impact workforce strategy: TCS
New Delhi: Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) on Friday said the US suspension of its participation in the green card programme for foreign workers would not affect its workforce strategy or customer engagements, noting that its applications under the programme were in single digits over the past two years.
The US has suspended eight technology companies, including TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Cognizant, HCL, Capgemini, Microsoft and Adobe, from the Permanent Labour Certification (PERM) programme amid allegations of misuse of employment-based immigration rules.
“Our PERM applications were in single digits in the last two years, and hence we do not expect the suspension of the programme to impact our workforce strategy and customer engagements,” TCS said. The company said it would comply with any directive from the US Labour Department and that its workforce strategy in the country was anchored in local hiring, supported by campus recruitment.
