Hyderabad: In a major push toward urban development, the Telangana government has secured Rs 5,000 crore in external assistance from Germany to enhance municipal civic amenities, including water supply, storm water management, solid waste management, blue-green infrastructure, and sustainable mobility.

The Union government has approved the state’s request to seek external aid under the Telangana CRUTI (Climate Resilient Urban Infrastructure & Transformation Initiative).

The flagship component is the Greater Warangal Comprehensive Sewerage and Wastewater Management Transformation Project, involving a proposed investment of approximately Rs 5,257 crore.

The initiative establishes comprehensive sewerage networks, expands household connections, upgrades wastewater treatment, and promotes treated water reuse across Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation area.

Furthermore, Telangana CRUTI promotes innovative financing, institutional strengthening, and convergence with central schemes like AMRUT 2.0, Swachh Bharat Mission 2.0, and Urban Challenge Fund.
