He was a highly successful 'family-social' director from the late 1970s to mid-1990s. Many of his Tamil films were remade into Kannada, Hindi and Telugu and scored big there too. K Bhagyaraj, who Telugu fans know as one among them for a series of remakes and dubbing ventures during this period is soon to reprise one of his major blockbusters 'MundhanaiMudichu' originally released in 1983( MooduMullu in Telugu) for the 21st-century audience.
Tamil actor Sasikumar, who has also been a producer during his initial phase of entry into the industry is to reprise the role of the veteran. Other discussions are in progress.
A film set in a rural milieu, it had enough for everyone from family relationships to a small-town world view of the lives of men and women in a domestic setting. With a clever mix of borderline sex and humour, the director hit the bull's eye making it a thunderous success all over.
