Just as they tell you not to judge a book by its cover, don't judge the value of a seed by its size. In fact, a seeds nutrient density is quiet- contrary to its size- is quite large. Although it's so tiny, let's not forget that it provides the board and lodging for the next generation of plants. It's such a complete food.

Most times when your hand reaches out for a snack, is it something salty or maybe crunchy? Things like chips, bhujiyas, chaats, etc. Have you ever realised that seeds are crunchy and salty? You must be really thinking I'm a bird brain, because seeds are foods for the birds. Well, I definitely want you to be as light as a bird and soar as high. So, I am not batty when I tell you to have seeds as a snack. When you eat like a sparrow you will realise how these seeds pack a punch and a small amount goes along way.

Your go to protein snack are seeds as it consists of the full profile of amino acids needed to form complete and digestible protein. In simple words it means that seeds contain all the protein which your body can easily assimilate and digest. An added bonus is that they contain vitamins A, B, C and E and the minerals calcium, magnesium, potassium, zinc, iron, selenium and manganese.

The brain is made up of fat and when the fat is good the brain can work better.These little seeds consist of these good fats. It's not surprising that one of the seeds in India is called 'Magajtari bees' (also known as Melon seeds) which means seeds for the brain.

All of us know that we need calcium, it strengthens your bones and Sesame seeds are a great source of calcium. A few fun facts about Sesame seeds is that they are thought to aid digestion, to stimulate blood circulation, help the nervous system and an excellent source of copper, a trace mineral that helps fight inflammation and relieve the pain of rheumatoid arthritis. So, toast those Sesame seeds and make sure to snack on them with some salt and lime.

I'm always recommending people to eat pumpkin seeds because they are very high in zinc thus are nature's most perfect food for men and women's sexual health. It is a true aphrodisiac; in men's prostate gland they build seminal fluid and increase sperm count. In women, they build hormones, activate sexual organs and increase sexual fluid secretions. They create a mild euphoria and relieve stress.

The sunflower is a symbol of brightness and I love to include its seeds in my daily meals because they are jam-packed with a wealth of important nutrients and are associated with a multitude of health benefits. They are a good source of vitamin E and selenium and may help cure osteoarthritis, colon cancer, asthma, cardiovascular diseases and high blood pressure.

Mahatma Gandhi said, "Wherever flaxseeds become a regular food item among the people, there will be better health". This must be simply because Flaxseeds are your richest sources of Omega 3 and are the most powerful antioxidant thus improving overall mortality! Relieving joint pains, arthritis pains preventing premature aging. So, I suggest you eat this tiny seed daily

After all, as they say good things come in small packages, so make sure to have these tiny seeds in small portions daily for great health.
