Excerpts:

What has been your experiences as a youngster trying her hand at makeup?

I fell in love with makeup and beauty as a young girl. I have vivid memories of watching my mother getting ready to go out and doing her makeup. When I was asked what I wanted to do when I grew up, I kept coming back to makeup. Makeup has always been something that fascinated me, even though I've always kept my own look minimal.

Bobbi Brown is a brand with a huge line up of products; which among them has given you the most satisfaction?

Probably my line of Foundation Sticks. They were one of the first products I did, and besides the formulas being great, I created over 40 shades, which at the time was a big deal as no one else was doing it.

How would you like people to associate your/brand name with?

That, I made women feel like the best versions of themselves.

What is your makeup mantra?

Beauty begins within.

What is the one product that is a must in every girl's makeup kit?

A moisturiser. Find one what works for your skin type. Hydrated skin is the first and most important step for applying makeup.

What is the basis for makeup trends? What are your views on the current trend?

There is so much that impacts a trend, from pop culture to politics. Lately, we're seeing a return to a natural look. Skin is in. And we're seeing more clean brands hit the market, which is really cool. Consumers are paying attention to ingredients in a new way and it's having a real impact on product development.

Which has been your most favourite trend over the years and why?

Natural, healthy-looking skin. Makeup should enhance your features, not hide them. I love when you can see freckles and lines.

How do women choose makeup products?

Like any product, it's about finding something that meets your needs. If you have dry skin, you should be looking for a product that can address it. There are so many innovative, natural and clean ingredients, it's becoming easier to transition your products without sacrificing effectiveness.

As a woman who has achieved so much, what have been your most challenging moments and how do you cope?

It's always challenging to do something new. I try to remind myself to take things one by one and remember it will all still be there tomorrow. I've also learned to really trust my gut. If something doesn't feel right, ask questions and don't be afraid to speak up. A lot of people will tell you no, but you can always find a way to get it done.

Is there still anything else you would like to do?

I have no plans to slow down anytime soon! I'm also experimenting, thinking up new ideas and evolving. Right now, I'm focused on my supplements brand EVOLUTION_18, the hotel I run with my husband, The George in Montclair, New Jersey, my podcast Long Story Short, and my content site, JustBobbi.com

How do you feel about coming to India, and what are your observations of the Indian cosmetic market?

I am so excited to visit India. It's a place I have wanted to see for years and I can't wait to soak up the rich culture and history. And I can't wait for the food! In terms of beauty, the makeup worn by women in the country ranges from the over the top to traditional to a cleaner, more modern look. It's a diverse mix of looks and trends, which I love. Most importantly, everyone looks so beautiful.

What can we expect at your masterclass?

I'll be sharing my career story as well as the tips and techniques I've mastered over the years.
