The Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre (NMACC) has brought to life a vibrant hub for book lovers, called The Library. The venue is located in Mumbai and features over 4500 carefully curated books, with a café serving you throughout the day and a space for discussion and performance.

The launch took place with a special celebration hosted by NMACC Founder and Chairperson Nita Mukesh Ambani. The event saw many exciting names from the film, literary, artistic, culture and business industries. Additionally, there was a discussion between Nita Ambani and acclaimed actor, writer and founder of Sonali’s Book Club, Sonali Bendre Behl. This highlighted how important it is to read, and encourage our children to love books.

“Since launching the NMACC in March 2023, it has become a space for people to come and enjoy the arts, dance and music. We felt a natural addition to this would be books. I wanted to help my grandkids fall in love with reading and this is what led us to create The Library. Children learn to read by watching their parents and family.” The Library was designed by architect and designer Ashiesh Shah. It is a two storey hub, inspired by traditional library spaces found in Universities and Milanese interiors. The venue boasts a wide range of books covering fiction, children’s books, art, design, historical, cultural, food and travel books. There are also books from Indian, global and multi-lingual authors. The Chariot of Wisdom also contains the full Amar Chitra Katha collection, honouring India’s mythological stories, history and folklore. The ground floor allows guests to enjoy a range of books and a café space. The mezzanine floor offers a tranquil space to enjoy some reading. The space also offers sculptural book inspired installations, cosy reading nooks, unique table tops and a round coffee bar. The venue will also have a special stage for literary discussions, performances and other cultural activities.

There were many exciting guests in attendance including Kareena Kapoor Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Shahid Kapoor, Mira Kapoor, Kajol, Rani Mukerji, Rajkumar Hirani, Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Anupama Chopra, Vikrant Massey, Rajkummar Rao, Soha Ali Khan, Prasoon Joshi and fashion designer Manish Malhotra.

The café has been created with help from the NMACC team and acclaimed restaurateur Aditi Dugar. Throughout the year, guests can enjoy a range of activities including author meet and greets, story telling, poetry, workshops and activities for children and families.

By adding this new space, NMACC hope to create a space where literature, food and culture collide. Encouraging people of all ages to discover new books.

Since opening in March 2023, NMACC has become a vibrant multi-disciplinary cultural hub in Mumbai. With the Grand Theatre, Studio Theatre, Cube and four storey Art House. Adding The Library really shows how committed NMACC are to combining Indian and global art and culture.
