Chikkodi MP Priyanka Jarkiholi expressed confidence that her father, senior Congress leader Satish Jarkiholi, could become Karnataka Chief Minister in 2028 if the party receives the people's mandate. She also promised to prioritise infrastructure, pursue drought relief, and push for the long-pending Shedbal-Vijayapura railway project with the Centre.

Belagavi : Chikkodi MP Priyanka Jarkiholi has expressed confidence that her father and senior Congress leader Satish Jarkiholi can become the Chief Minister of Karnataka after the 2028 Assembly elections if he receives the blessings and support of the people of the state.

Speaking to mediapersons at Aigali village in Athani taluk, Priyanka Jarkiholi said the aspirations of party workers and supporters would be fulfilled if the Congress secures a strong mandate in the next Assembly elections. "If the people of Karnataka extend their support and blessings, my father Satish Jarkiholi will certainly become the Chief Minister in 2028. We are confident that it is possible," she said.

The MP also outlined her development priorities for the Chikkodi Lok Sabha constituency, stating that infrastructure development would remain a key focus. She said funds available under the Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS) and the Tribal Sub-Plan (TSP) would be utilised for projects such as the construction of concrete roads and other essential civic infrastructure.

Referring to the prevailing drought situation in parts of Belagavi district, Priyanka Jarkiholi said she would take up the concerns of farmers and drought-affected regions, particularly in Chikkodi, with the Central government. She added that necessary representations would be submitted to seek timely assistance and relief measures.

The Chikkodi MP also promised to pursue the long-pending Shedbal-Vijayapura railway line project. She said the proposal had remained pending for nearly a decade despite the preparation of a Detailed Project Report (DPR). Priyanka said she would personally meet Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to press for early implementation of the project, adding that the issue had earlier been raised in Parliament but had not received the desired response.

Her remarks come days after senior Congress leader Satish Jarkiholi stated that the party would contest the 2028 Assembly elections under the leadership of former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, while speculation over the party's future leadership continues.
