Woman rescued after crocodile attack in Kumaradhara river
Subrahmanya: A woman from Udupi, who allegedly jumped into the Kumaradhara river in an attempt to end her life, was attacked by a crocodile near Kukke Subrahmanya on Wednesday night. She escaped with minor injuries after local residents and police personnel rescued her. The woman, reportedly distressed over personal issues, jumped into the river near the Kumaradhara bridge. While she was in the water, a crocodile bit her, causing minor injuries. Terrified by the attack, she screamed for help.
Workers at a nearby lodge heard her cries and immediately alerted the Subrahmanya police. Police personnel rushed to the spot and, with the assistance of local residents, pulled the woman out of the river safely.
She was subsequently taken to a local hospital, where she received first aid. The police contacted her family members and arranged counselling before sending her home with them.
