‘Balaranga’ theatre camp begins at Vishwa Konkani Kendra
Mangaluru: A three-day residential theatre training camp for children, ‘Balaranga’, began at Vishwa Konkani Kendra here on Sunday, with around 50 children set to receive free training in various performing and theatre-related arts.
The camp is organised by Vishwa Konkani Kendra, sponsored by Vardhani and supported by Sadhana Balaga. Dr Naresh Ramadas Kini, a retired MRPL official, inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Kini said exposure to music, drama, dance, stage prop-making, mask-making and theatre music could help children develop their personalities and creative abilities. He said the initiative to provide such training at a young age was useful and urged the participants to make the best use of the camp. The residential programme offers free accommodation and meals, besides practical training in different aspects of theatre, Prakash Shenai, head of Sadhana Balaga, said.
