During the visit, he went to the then Government High School, now the Government Arts College, and unveiled a portrait of his political mentor Gopal Krishna Gokhale. In memory of the visit, the auditorium at the college has been named after Bapuji. The state’s first Gandhi Memorial Pillar has now been established on the same campus.
