Eight lakh devotees visit Hassanamba temple; revenue touches Rs 6.5 crore
Hassan: Lakhs of devotees thronged the Hassanamba temple on Tuesday, the fifth day of the annual jatra mahotsava, resulting in heavy crowds at the shrine. Pilgrims from across Karnataka have been arriving in Hassan to offer prayers to the presiding goddess. The turnout has been especially high on Tuesday, regarded as an auspicious day for worshipping the deity. In view of the unprecedented rush this year, the authorities have allowed devotees to continue having darshan even during the naivedya ritual, ensuring that the flow of visitors is not interrupted.
The district administration has organised separate queues for free darshan, Gold Pass holders and devotees purchasing tickets priced at Rs 1,000 and Rs 300. Queue arrangements covering an estimated 10 to 12 km have been made to manage the influx.Officials have also curtailed the time slots allotted for VIP and Gold Pass darshan to ensure that more devotees get an opportunity to visit the temple. The administration said all necessary arrangements had been made to minimise inconvenience and maintain order.
Around eight lakh devotees had visited the temple by Monday afternoon, according to district administration officials.
