Bengaluru: Leadership, practical experience and the ability to learn from failure are essential for success, David Skaith, Mayor of York and North Yorkshire, said at Garden City University (GCU), Bengaluru.
Speaking at a fireside chat organised under the university’s IGNITE Expert Talk Series at the GCU Knowledge Park, Skaith shared his leadership journey and the challenges he faced as the first mayor of York and North Yorkshire.

During the programme, Skaith and delegates from the University of York inaugurated the GCU Oval, the university’s cricket stadium at the Knowledge Park, and the GCU Bio Resource Centre, established in collaboration with University of York.
Dr Joseph V G, Chancellor of GCU, Vice-Chancellor Dr M Ramachandra Gowda, Director of Strategy and Planning Dr Christo Joseph were also present.
The programme concluded with the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the GCU Cricket Academy and the University of York to strengthen institutional collaboration and explore opportunities for future engagement in academics, sports and knowledge exchange.
