Bollywood actor Salman Khan was reportedly the original target of the three accused in the firing incident involving actor Tiger Shroff in Mumbai’s Juhu area. According to media reports citing police sources, the accused allegedly abandoned their initial plan after finding security arrangements outside Khan’s residence too tight.

The shooters are suspected of subsequently choosing Tiger Shroff, allegedly believing he would be easier to target because he appeared to move around without police protection.

Police have not publicly confirmed all the details of the reported change in targets, and the investigation is ongoing.

Shooters allegedly conducted reconnaissance outside Salman Khan’s home

According to reports, the accused had carried out reconnaissance near Khan’s residence in Mumbai’s Bandra area. However, the security arrangements allegedly discouraged them from proceeding with the planned attack.

Investigators are reportedly examining the accused men’s movements and communications to establish who directed the operation and how the alleged decision to target Shroff was made.

Sources cited in media reports said the accused subsequently tracked Shroff’s movements through social media, including posts and videos shared by his fans. These reportedly indicated that the actor regularly visited a football ground in Juhu on Sundays.

The accused allegedly used this information to identify an opportunity to attack him.

Firing at Tiger Shroff’s car in Juhu

The incident took place on October 18, when gunmen allegedly opened fire at Shroff’s car as he was leaving a football ground in Mumbai’s Juhu neighbourhood.

The actor escaped without serious injury, while his driver and another person were reportedly injured.

Three accused were subsequently arrested in Rajasthan’s Kota in connection with the case. They are being investigated for their alleged roles in the shooting, including the planning, execution and possible links to a criminal network.

Police are also examining the circumstances surrounding the attack and attempting to establish the chain of command behind it.

Lawrence Bishnoi gang link under investigation

The Lawrence Bishnoi gang's alleged involvement was put to the test after a post on social media and an audio message from people who alleged they had some connection to the gang emerged after the shooting.

The messages allegedly said that the attack was carried out by them and threatened those in the film industry related to Salman Khan. The authenticity of the messages and claims in the messages is to be verified independently.

It is believed that the rift between Khan and Bishnoi gang was connected to black buck poaching incident in Rajasthan in 1998. Over the years, Khan has been threatened and in April 2024, bullets were fired outside his Bandra residence.

The latest developments have renewed concerns about the safety of Bollywood personalities. Investigators are continuing to examine the alleged motive behind the Juhu shooting, the possible involvement of organised criminal networks and whether Khan was indeed the intended original target.
