Guntur: AP Pollution Control Board chairman P Krishnaiah along with Bapatla district Collector Vinod Kumar V on Saturday participated in ‘Swachh Sagar -Surakshit Sagar’ coastal cleanup programme held at Suryalanka Beach under the aegis of Indian Coast Guard Station, Nizampatnam and supervised by Commandant J G Sanket Kumar Mishra.
Speaking on this occasion, P Krishnaiah said everyone should play a key role in environment protection. He called upon defence forces, government machinery, students, fishermen and locals to work together to protect marine ecosystems.
He further said that development of Suryalanka Beach as a clean, safe and attractive destination will help to increase tourists footfall. He said that the arrival of tourists was providing income to the local people running small businesses around the beach.
