Guntur: Union Minister for Rural Development Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu visited the natural farming field of farmer Janaki Ram at Burripalem on Sunday. Janaki Ram told the Union Minister that the cost of cultivating paddy under natural farming methods was only around Rs 7,000 per acre, compared with about Rs 25,000 per acre when chemical fertilisers were used.
Speaking during the visit to the agricultural field, Chouhan said the AP government was promoting natural farming and had set a target of taking up natural farming on 50 lakh acres.
He noted that farmers were using Beejamrutha and Jeevamrutha in cultivation instead of fertilisers and added that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was promoting natural farming. If soil fertility improved, farmers could obtain better yields, which in turn would contribute to better public health, he said. He appreciated Chief Minister Naidu for encouraging natural farming on a large scale. He said Andhra Pradesh was in the No 1 position in the country in natural farming due to the encouragement being given by the CM. Earlier, they paid tributes to the statue of Superstar Krishna at Burripalem.
