22-A controversy: CM Revanth to expose Dharani loopholes in Assembly

Hyderabad: All eyes are on Chief Minister Anumula Revanth Reddy’s crucial statement on the ongoing controversy on the prohibited list of lands under Section 22-A of The Registration Act, 1908 in the Bhu Bharati portal in the Assembly on Wednesday.

Ordering a judicial probe into alleged irregularities in the inclusion of prohibited lands in the Dharani portal during the previous BRS rule, release of white paper on the entire prohibited lands, etc., are under consideration before the Chief Minister who is ready to divulge details on the 22-A prohibited list in the house.

Telangana Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy already made a marathon speech on the prohibited list on Saturday and held the previous government responsible for the entire crisis in the land management and ownerships in the state.

Official sources said that the Chief Minister sought a detailed report on the 22-A prohibited list from the Revenue and Stamps & Registration Department to verify the list of the lands in the prohibited list existing in the state. The Chief Minister wanted to expose the mismanagement of the lands on the Dharani portal in the last government.

Sources said that the Chief Minister was planning to present a detailed report on the 22-A prohibited lands’ list with evidence of misuse of the land, measures taken to protect land rights in the Bhu Bharathi and challenges to remove hurdles in removing the lands from the prohibited list in recent times.

“Revanth Reddy was serious on Revenue Department for not allying the apprehensions raised by people who struggled to sell or purchase the lands which were included in the prohibited list since 2023 “, officials said, adding that the role of the Revenue Department in the inclusion of the lands in the prohibited list was under probe and the reasons for it would also be explained by Chief Minister during his speech in the house.

Statistical data of the prohibited lands in different categories like forest lands, assigned lands, wakf lands, endowment lands, court restricted lands and ceiling surplus lands would also be presented in the Assembly.
