Cabinet expansion put on hold for now: Mahesh Goud

Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president Mahesh Kumar Goud has said that a Cabinet expansion in Telangana is unlikely in the immediate future, making it clear that no discussions were held on the issue during the recent Delhi visit.

Speaking to the media during an informal interaction at Gandhi Bhavan on Saturday, Mahesh Goud said the discussions in Delhi were confined to issues concerning minister Konda Surekha and Chinna Reddy. “There was no discussion in Delhi regarding cabinet expansion. There is no information from the high command on the matter,” he said. He added that the timing of any cabinet expansion would be decided by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy. Responding to the speculation that he could be inducted into the State Cabinet, Goud said he had no information about any such proposal. Meanwhile, Goud said nominated posts in the State would be filled during the current month. On the dismissal of Konda Surekha from the Telangana Cabinet, the TPCC chief said the decision was taken entirely by the All India Congress Committee (AICC).

The party leadership had made every effort to support and protect Surekha, but the high command did not approve of her actions.

Goud also praised Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, saying he had fulfilled the vision of senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. He said the caste survey in Telangana was conducted scientifically and in a systematic manner. The TPCC chief further announced that a nationwide campaign, ‘BC Rights Roar’ (BC Hakkula Garjana), would be conducted over the next 100 days to highlight the rights and concerns of Backward Classes (BCs). He called upon party workers and the public to ensure the campaign’s success.
