Kodangal/Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy has announced the launch of ‘Praja balam’ (people’s strength) after the upcoming Sankranthi festival. During the programme, the Chief Minister said, he would visit villages and meet people.

Interacting with progressive farmers and agriculture scientists after launching the Rythu Mela and Industrial Expo in Kodangal on Saturday, the Chief Minister appealed to people to support the government in tackling the El Nino weather conditions and drought. The farmers were requested to cultivate only dry crops in the upcoming Rabi season. The government wished for the well-being of all sections and was ready to support those in crisis. In view of the slugfest between the ruling Congress and opposition Bharat Rashtra Samithi on water issues, the Chief Minister appealed to the Assembly Speaker to summon a special session of the Assembly for a two-day debate on El Nino, Kaleshwaram and Godavari waters. The Chief Minister blasted KCR for the collapse of the Medigadda barrage and blamed him for current water shortage.

“Let KCR bring his entire family along. We are ready to expose the KCR family with evidence in Assembly.”

“Ignoring the central government’s offer to designate the Pranahita scheme then in the works as a ‘national’ project, the Chief Minister alleged, ‘KCR side-lined the Pranhita project and instead built the Kaleshwaram project”.

The KCR government changed the names, altered the locations, and revised the cost estimates. Revanth charged and observed: “We requested the Centre to order a CBI inquiry into the irregularities surrounding Kaleshwaram. Was it not KCR who went to Delhi, knelt before Modi, and requested that the CBI investigation be delayed?”

The Chief Minister accused KCR of changing the project designs only for commissions. The Chief Minister questioned the BRS leaders for the construction of the Medigadda barrage when the opposition demanded lifting of water from the Kannepalli pump houses. The Sripada Yellampalli project fills up only when three pumps operate simultaneously.

The Chief Minister mocked former minister K T Rama Rao for his recent makeover, saying: “Just as a fox cannot become a tiger by trying to mimic its stripes, you cannot become a tiger by imitating one.
