CM Revanth Reddy meets Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, briefs El nino effects in agriculture sectior

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy met with Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. The CM expressed his gratitude to the Union Minister for allocating 2 lakh houses to the state in the first phase under the PMAY-G scheme. It is noteworthy that Revanth had previously submitted a representation to the Union Minister in Delhi last July, requesting the sanction of houses for 11,56,915 eligible rural families. In this context, he urged Shivraj Singh to allocate the remaining 9.56 lakh houses in line with the state's demand. He also briefed the Minister on the impact of El Niño in the state, noting that electricity consumption in the agricultural sector had risen due to rainfall deficits.

The CM explained to the Union Minister that the state government has prepared advance plans to prevent shortages of drinking water and electricity amidst the El Niño conditions. He requested the Centre's necessary support to tackle the impact of El Niño on the agricultural sector. The Chief Minister highlighted that the state is providing fine-variety rice to the poor through ration shops—an initiative unmatched elsewhere in the country—and is encouraging the cultivation of fine-variety paddy by offering a bonus of ₹500. He also explained that farmers in the state are being encouraged to switch to alternative crops in light of the El Niño situation.

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy requested Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan to extend his cooperation, acknowledging the need to encourage farmers to adopt crop diversification. Ministers Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy and Tummala Nageswara Rao, Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju, and senior officials attended this meeting.
