RTC merger must be carried out scientifically, safeguarding employees’ interests, say Mahesh Kumar Goud
Hyderabad: TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud on Wednesday said the proposed RTC merger process should be carried out scientifically while safeguarding the interests and welfare of employees.
He said Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy was committed to addressing the concerns of workers and that the government was taking steps to resolve issues faced by RTC employees.
Mahesh Goud, AICC secretary Sachin Sawant, Professor Kodandaram, INTUC State President Sanjeeva Reddy and several trade union leaders participated in a massive gate meeting at the Gowliguda Central Bus Station in Hyderabad as part of the Telangana State RTC recognised union elections campaign by the TWU alliance.
Addressing the gathering, Mahesh Goud announced the Congress party’s full support for the TWU alliance and urged RTC employees to support candidates contesting under the ‘Arrow’ symbol. He said the alliance was committed to protecting workers’ rights and promoting their welfare.
He highlighted several initiatives of the Congress government, including measures aimed at the welfare of gig workers and relief provided to auto-rickshaw drivers. He also pointed to the implementation of two Pay Revision Commissions (PRCs) and the continuation of salary payments to employees on the first day of every month. The Congress leaders recalled the difficulties faced by RTC employees during the 2019 strike and criticised the previous administration over what they described as the hardships experienced by workers during the past decade.
