Congress MLA urges govt to take back assigned lands from BRS netas

Hyderabad: Shadnagar Congress MLA K Shankaraiah on Wednesday demanded that the state government recover assigned lands allegedly usurped by family members of BRS leaders Gangula Kamalakar, Errabelli Dayakar Rao, Pilot Rohit Reddy, and others by invoking the Revenue Recovery Act. Participating in a Legislative Assembly discussion regarding Section 22A, Shankaraiah criticized land irregularities during the previous BRS tenure. He stated that while post independence laws like the Ceiling Act and Bhoodan were enacted to distribute land to the poor, BRS representatives and former ministers illegally usurped thousands of acres of government, Bhoodan, and assigned lands over the past decade. Criticizing rampant land grabbing, he called for a comprehensive inquiry and swift land recovery.

Shankaraiah presented details of four major land scam cases to the Assembly. He alleged that in Thimmapur village in Maheshwaram constituency, the native village of Union Minister G Kishan Reddy, BRS leaders illegally obtained title deeds for 30 acres out of 70 acres of Bhoodan land comprising survey numbers 6, 129, 130, 147, 161, 167, 197, 440, 44, 453, and 454. Leaders allegedly exploited the Dharani portal to facilitate illegal transfers. The Congress member demanded clarification regarding whether former local minister P Sabitha Indra Reddy was involved in encroaching these 30 acres, noting properties were safeguarded after being restored to the 22A prohibited list following Collector orders.

Similarly, family members of former ministers Gangula Kamalakar, Errabelli Dayakar Rao, and Sabitha Indra Reddy allegedly encroached upon 650 acres of government Lavani land in Badruguda, Shamshabad Mandal, under survey numbers 28 and 62. Although a civil court declaration regarding lands originally recorded under Latifunnisa Begum in the 1956 Sethwar was issued in 2006, leaders misappropriated government assets worth crores of Rs by exploiting Dharani portal flaws to orchestrate settlements while exploiting mines.

Shankaraiah further alleged that former BRS MLA Pilot Rohit Reddy encroached 3.5 acres of assigned land in Aziznagar, Moinabad Mandal, under survey number 177/3, constructing a farmhouse violating GO 111 regulations. He noted the farmhouse became a hub for anti-social activities and drug parties raided by special police squads. Additionally, BRS MLC Naveen Reddy allegedly encroached 21 acres of evacuee land in survey number 305 of Penjarla village using fictitious claimants. Shankaraiah asserted BRS representatives plundered Telangana beyond British and Nizam rulers, promising to expose opposition leaders claiming truthfulness.
