EAGLE digs deep into shady drug syndicate financial ops
Hyderabad: Recognising that organised narcotics trafficking is driven primarily by financial gain, EAGLE Force adopted a follow the money approach, undertaking detailed financial investigations to trace, identify, and establish ownership of assets linked to drug proceeds. Officials stated that investigation teams thoroughly examined relevant records and supporting documents, including revenue passbooks, sale deeds, property tax receipts, building permissions, registration certificates, purchase invoices, and ownership deeds of several accused held in peddling cases to establish clear asset trails and financial linkages.
The financial investigation successfully identified assets belonging to three primary accused, their associates, and relatives. Identified properties comprise movable assets valued at Rs 55.36 lakh and immovable assets valued at approximately Rs 2.96 crore based on official government rates, bringing the aggregate government value to Rs 3.52 crore. However, EAGLE Force officials highlighted that the prevailing market value of these immovable properties stands at around Rs 6 crore, bringing the total estimated market valuation of seized assets to Rs 6.55 crore. Officials noted this action marks an important enforcement milestone, demonstrating that EAGLE Force is actively pursuing the financial architecture of drug trafficking to prevent illegal narcotics proceeds from transforming into legitimate looking wealth and assets.
