Hyderabad: BJP MP Eatala Rajender on Tuesday demanded the Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy to allocate Rs 3,000 crore to solve the long pending issue of dumping yard in Jawaharnagar and send the DPR (detailed project report) to the Centre so that the problem can be solved.
The BJP MP was speaking in a meeting organised at Edulabad in Malkajgiri against the Jawaharnagar dumping yard. Rajender said that for the past 12 years, a Joint Action Committee (JAC) has been fighting against the Jawaharnagar dumping yard. The Supreme Court has even imposed a fine of one lakh rupees, citing the failure to adhere to regulations regarding the dumping yard.
Revanth Reddy, during his tenure as MP, filed cases in the National Green Tribunal (NGT) and the Supreme Court. “I had hoped that since this ‘voice that questions’ has now become the Chief Minister, the issue would be resolved; however, there has been no response even after two years,” said the BJP leader.
Rajender recalled that even while serving as a BJP MP he raised the issue of the Jawahar Nagar dumping yard in Parliament. He recalled that he had met Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and requested him to find a solution. Prime Minister Narendra Modi believes that the nation's development is rooted in the development of its states.
I appeal to the Chief Minister, an investment of Rs 2,000 to Rs 3,000 crore could transform the lives of the people in Jawaharnagar and Balaji Nagar. Since it was possible to clear away millions of tonnes of waste, I urge you to prepare and submit a DPR for this purpose,” Rajender said, adding with current technology, it was possible to ensure that not a single kilogram of waste goes to waste. He said that he would remain a pillar of support for the people until this issue was fully resolved.
