Hyderabad: Amid controversy over the deletion of votes based on Form 7 applications, the Election Commission has deleted 50 per cent of the total Form 7 applications received across Telangana. Of the 24,323 applications received in the state, 12,204 votes were deleted from the electoral rolls.

The Commission received over 4.88 lakh Form 6 applications, of which more than 51,821 voters were included in the electoral rolls. The Telangana Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) released the district-wise and constituency-wise status of receipt and disposal of Forms 6, 6A, 7 and 8 during the claims and objections period under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in the state from June 15 to October 7.

According to officials, the highest number of Form 7 applications and deletions were recorded in Hyderabad district. As many as 6,335 applications were received and 2,066 votes were deleted. The lowest number of Form 7 applications was received in Wanaparthy, with 33 applications, of which 26 votes were deleted.

With regard to Form 6A, a total of 6,270 applications were received, but only 118 voters were included in the electoral rolls. Hyderabad district received the highest number of applications at 4,127, of which 90 voters were added to the list. Mulugu district received only one Form 6A application, but the voter was not included in the list.

Regarding Form 8, a total of 5,04,782 applications were received in the State, and details of 2,27,721 voters were updated in the electoral rolls. Hyderabad again recorded the highest number of applications at 1,44,499, with details of 84,972 voters updated in the list.

Mulugu district recorded the lowest number of Form 8 applications at 1,975, with details of 1,313 voters updated in the electoral rolls. A total of 1,960 unassigned forms were received by the Commission, and all of them were rejected.
