GHMC will ratchet up drive to raze illegal buildings: Karnan
Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has just launched a demolition drive against unauthorised constructions and buildings that violate sanctioned plans. GHMC Commissioner RV Karnan told ‘The Hans India’ that GHMC had prepared a comprehensive action plan to demolish or seal such structures. The GHMC Commissioner said the demolition operations were being undertaken across GHMC limits.
According to Karnan, over 470 ongoing constructions have been identified across the city for being unauthorised or deviating from approved building plans. The process of issuing notices and passing speaking orders is underway in accordance with the provisions of the CURE Act.
Karnan emphasised that enforcement operations would continue across all zones to ensure compliance with building regulations and curb unauthorised constructions. As part of the drive, GHMC recently took action against several unauthorised structures in different parts of the city.
Highlighting some of the recent demolitions, the GHMC said, in the Golconda Zone, under Circle No. 30 (Goshamahal), action was taken against an unauthorised cellar, ground floor, and six upper floors near the Aziz Plaza in Feelkhana, Begum Bazar. The structure stood on a plot measuring 70 square yards.
In the Khairatabad Zone, under Circle No. 35, unauthorised third, fourth, and fifth floors in Red Hills were targeted for demolition. The building was located on a plot measuring 90 square yards.
Similarly, in the Secunderabad Zone, under Circle No. 41 (Musheerabad), action was initiated against an unauthorised fourth floor at Chikkadpally. The construction stood on a plot measuring 357 square yards.
