Heated exchange at KCR’s farmhouse as Cong protests over abusive remarks against Speaker

Hyderabad: Tension prevailed at former Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR)’s farmhouse at Erravalli in Siddipet district on Tuesday, as the Congress cadres staged demonstration and tried to barge into the premises during protest over derogatory and abusive remarks by the BRS MLCs against Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar.

Congress workers from nearby villages marched towards the KCR's farmhouse by breaking police cordon. Some of them reached near the farmhouse.

Police tried to stop the protestors, leading to a scuffle. Few police personnel were injured in the confrontation and clashes that ensued.

Tension prevailed at the farmhouse since morning in view of the protest called by the Congress party, condemning the abusive remarks made by two BRS MLCs against Speaker Prasad Kumar, hailing from Dalit community.

Large number of police personnel were deployed around the farmhouse and barricades were erected to prevent any untoward incident.

Meanwhile, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leaders and workers were also seen heading towards the farmhouse of their party supremo.

On receiving information about the protest by the ruling party, BRS Working President K. T. Rama Rao, senior leader T. Harish Rao and party MLAs left the Assembly for Erravalli.

The police stopped them at Bollarum. The BRS leaders questioned the police action. There was heated argument between the BRS leaders and police officials.

When police officers told KTR and Harish Rao that police have made adequate arrangements for the security of KCR, they said they have no faith in police.

They warned that if anything happens to KCR, the Congress government will be responsible. BRS leaders alleged that the ruling party with the support of police was creating law and order problems.

As KTR, Harish Rao and others tried to proceed, police detained them and shifted to police stations.

Earlier, the Hyderabad police arrested BRS MLCs Tata Madhu and Naveen Reddy for making abusive and derogatory remarks against the Speaker.

They had made the alleged remarks during the protest by BRS legislators at the Assembly entrance.
