HYDRAA steps up crackdown on illegal borewells near Fox Sagar
Hyderabad: The HYDRAA has intensified its crackdown on illegal borewells operating near lakes, targeting unauthorised groundwater extraction and the illegal water trade. HYDRAA uncovered some water tankers that were found displaying HMWSSB stickers.
On Tuesday, HYDRAA conducted a major operation near Fox Sagar Lake in the Jeedimetla area, on the outskirts of Kompally, and dismantled seven illegal borewells along with their pipelines.
During the operation, officials uncovered an organised operation in which water was secretly extracted from borewells located near the lake and filled into tankers parked between containers. The water was then transported for commercial sale without the required permissions.
In a further violation, some water tankers found displaying HMWSSB stickers, allegedly to make them appear like official water supply vehicles. HYDRAA seized the vehicles involved in the operation.
