He was speaking after 'Konda Lakshman Bapuji Memorial March' from People's Plaza on Necklace road to Lumbini Park, held on Sunday commemorating seventh death anniversary of Konda Lakshman Bapuji. A large of fans of Konda Lakshman, Telangana activists, representatives of several political parties, students, representatives of labour and women organizations participated in the march.
Speaking on the occasion, the executive organiser of Bapuji Ashaya Sadhana Samithi, Das Suresh, demanded that CM KCR fulfil his promise of erecting a statue of Bapuji at Tank Bund. He also demanded that the state government send proposals to President, Prime Minister and Union Home Ministry for selecting Konda Lakshman Bapu for Bharata Ratna award.
Chairman of the invitation committee Thatikonda Venkata Rajaiah expressed anguish that the Telangana that was dreamt of by Bapuji was not realised after the formation of the state. True Telangana would be realised only when the downtrodden sections of the state were empowered, he said.
Bapuji Ashaya Sadhana Samithi leaders Nagula Srinivas Yadav, Gundeti Sridhar, Vijaya Ramaraju, Hari Thruda, Ganji Rajender, Enuganti Raju, Bhadra and others paid rich tributes to Konda Lakshman Bapuji at Jala Drushyam in Lumbini Park.
