12 girls hospitalised after rat attack at Kasturba School
Vijayawada: As hocking incident unfolded at the Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya in A Konduru of NTR district on Thursday, as rats reportedly bit a group of girl students inside the school premises. This case has sparked widespread outrage among families of students.
According to initial information from school authorities and local residents, around 12 girl students were bitten by rats in what has been described as an “inhumane” incident. The girls, who are all students of the residential Kasturba Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV), were rushed to a nearby hospital after the bites were discovered. Medical staff are currently treating the affected students, and their condition is being closely monitored.
Parents of the injured children have expressed deep concern and anxiety over the safety and living conditions at the school hostel. Many hostel staff said they were alarmed not only by the physical injuries but also by the lack of adequate pest control and sanitation within the school compound.
Local officials have yet to issue a detailed statement, but community members are pressing for a thorough investigation into how the incident occurred and what steps will be taken to prevent similar episodes in future.
