Mahesh Goud calls for worker-centric RTC merger
Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee President and MLC Mahesh Kumar Goud said on Wednesday that the proposed RTC merger process must be executed scientifically while safeguarding the welfare and interests of employees.
He emphasised that Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy remains committed to addressing worker concerns and that the state government is actively resolving long-standing issues faced by corporation staff.
Mahesh Kumar Goud, AICC Secretary Sachin Sawant, MLC Professor Kodandaram, INTUC State President Sanjeeva Reddy, and prominent trade union leaders addressed a massive gate meeting at Gowliguda Central Bus Station in Hyderabad.
The gathering took place as part of the Telangana State RTC recognized union election campaign led by the TWU alliance.
Announcing full Congress party support for the TWU alliance, Mahesh Kumar Goud urged RTC employees to vote for candidates contesting under the Arrow election symbol, affirming the coalition commitment to protecting labor rights.
He highlighted key Congress government welfare measures, including relief initiatives for gig workers and auto-rickshaw drivers, alongside implementing two Pay Revision Commissions and ensuring regular salary disbursements on the first day of every month.
Speaking at the event, Congress leaders recalled the severe hardships endured by RTC employees during the 2019 strike while sharply criticizing the previous BRS administration over its treatment of workers throughout the past decade.
