MLAs discontented over official apathy to issues

Hyderabad: Members across treasury and opposition benches raised key public issues during Zero Hour in the Legislative Assembly on Friday, alleging official apathy and failure to provide written responses to raised queries. As proceedings commenced at 10 am under Speaker G Prasad Kumar, Khairatabad MLA Danam Nagender claimed that Zero Hour lacked sanctity due to unresponsive officials. Nagender alleged that officials favored AIMIM legislators out of fear, allocating Indiramma housing units under pressure. He expressed frustration that houses sanctioned for his constituency were diverted to outsiders, claiming the Housing Board Managing Director interacted poorly with elected representatives and that the Minister dismissed his concerns passively.

Focusing on rural grievances, Nagarkurnool MLA K Rajesh Reddy highlighted severe agricultural distress caused by persistent power cuts, demanding immediate resolution. Tandur MLA Manohar Reddy reported acute drinking water shortages due to failed Mission Bhagiratha supply, noting that local borewells had completely dried up. Addressing public safety, AIMIM MLA Ahmed Bin Abdulla Balala criticized deteriorating law and order in Hyderabad, asserting that criminals lacked fear and urging stricter punishment. Directly addressing the Chair, Balala noted Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy currently holds the Home portfolio, remarking on speculation that the Speaker might assume the role in future.

Opposition BJP members voiced strong displeasure over alleged government neglect in Nizamabad district. Nizamabad Urban MLA Dhanpal Suryanarayana Gupta stated that despite three years of Congress rule, zero special funds had been allocated to the district. He highlighted the deplorable condition of the Nizamabad bus stand, arguing that despite being the largest urban center after Warangal, its infrastructure lagged behind mandal-level facilities.
