Kapra: Electric transformers just kept beside the road near Kushaiguda Old Market at Kapra Circle are posing threat to passers-by, especially children and petty vendors. Push carts are kept close to the transformer, least bothering about the threat of shocks.

In spite of the fact that some people died of electric shocks, there is still no response from the GHMC officers or electricity department to shift or properly fence the transformer. As the rainy season is not far off, people are desperately hoping that the officials concerned would take steps to remove the transformer from there.

Speaking to The Hans India on Wednesday, Ashok, a commuter, who takes this road daily, said, "It is scary to travel on this road. Even some people died here on rainy days due to electrocution. I don't understand why GHMC officials continue to remain indifferent regarding this problem."

He further added, "It will be better if they move the transformer a bit away from the road or arrange a fence around it which is more useful." The electricity department should take appropriate measures.

Kandukuri Srinivas said apartments and buildings caretakers should check the underground water which would get dry in summer. They should take steps for proper earthing to absorb shocks. Furthermore, GHMC officials should keep a thorough check on the oil in transformers because their overheating results in short circuit.
