Hyderabad: Hyderabad Commissioner’s Task Force, Rajendranagar zone, along with Attapur police arrested two persons involved in a night-time house-breaking and theft in Hassan Nagar, Attapur. Police seized Rs 8.5 lakh and other materials used in the offence.
The arrested persons were identified as Mohammed Osman (28), a hair salon businessman and resident of Hassan Nagar and Syed Anwar (20), a delivery boy working with Zepto and also a resident of the Ranga Reddy district.
According to the police, the accused allegedly stole Rs 23 lakh in cash and gold jewellery weighing around five tolas, with the total value of the stolen property estimated at approximately Rs 24 lakh. Police said the incident took place during the intervening night of September 25 and 26 at a house near Madina Masjid in Hassan Nagar. Police said the complainant, Syed Hamed, is a businessman who used to keep cash at his residence.
Police said, on September 25, the complainant had organised a function for his children at NR Function Hall and had invited the accused, who were neighbours. After attending the function, the two allegedly returned home and later went to the complainant’s residence during the night.
Anwar allegedly remained on the terrace to keep watch, while Osman allegedly entered the house using a hammer and screwdriver. The accused allegedly broke open bedroom locks and an almirah before fleeing with the cash and gold jewellery.
During the investigation, police seized Rs 8.50 lakh in cash, two mobile phones, one hammer and one screwdriver from the accused.
