Plea to take entomology staff off election duties

Abids: GHMC standing committee member and Abids corporator Mamatha Santhosh Gupta met GHMC Commissioner Lokesh Kumar and requested him not to deploy employees of entomology department in election-related works which are set to be commenced soon. GHMC workers would be deployed in election-related works such as voter ID verification, making corrections in voter list and receiving new applications.
She explained to the Commissioner that deployment of entomology workers in other duties would affect the drive against spread of viral fevers and mosquito-borne diseases such as dengue and malaria. Responding positively to her suggestion, Lokesh Kumar assured that the employees of the entomology department would not be deployed in those works.
