Ponguleti warns lax babus of stick over delays in resolving land woes
Hyderabad: Revenue, Housing, and Information and Public Relations Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy warned revenue officials and staff on Tuesday of strict administrative action if they fail to improve their working style and resolve public grievances promptly. He made it clear that delays in settling land-related issues and causing hardship to farmers would not be tolerated.
Reviewing the functioning of the Revenue, Registration, and Housing departments in the undivided Medak district at the Sangareddy Collectorate, the Minister said officials must work diligently and responsibly to address public grievances, noting that repeated instructions had failed to produce desired results. Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy said the government undertook a land re-survey to resolve disputes permanently and ensure transparency in land records. Interacting with Tahsildars and surveyors, he sought details on village coverage, survey progress, methodologies adopted, daily coverage, and time required for completion.
He instructed officials to conduct surveys meticulously and verify land measurements and boundaries at the field level. Farmers must be clearly informed about the extent of their land, leaving no room for confusion or disputes. Officials from Tahsildar level to District Collectors must regularly monitor the exercise, inspect fieldwork, and obtain direct feedback from farmers. Pending applications and land grievances must be resolved without delay.
The government aims to complete the re-survey of agricultural lands and abadi residential properties within 18 months, with the first phase covering 70 villages per district. The Minister directed District Collectors and revenue officials to visit these villages extensively and closely monitor progress.
